Sometimes you can be doing everything right. You can be working on yourself, building those good habits and being disciplined. There will still be bad days and days where you feel like quitting. Everyone has these days. Some more than others. I used to think that these days could and should be avoided at all cost. I thought that an easy life was the key to happiness and peace. I’ve learned that adversity is the key to growth. And personal growth is key to a great life. I learned through my most difficult times that it is through tough times where true personal growth occurs. If you’re doing the hard things and trying to grow as an individual, these tough times will occur. Failure only happens when you try. Show me the person who fails on a regular basis and I can guarantee they live a much more fulfilling life than the person who never tries and never fails.
I promise you that these hard times are the key to everything. You must try to fail. You must fail to learn. You must learn to grow. You must grow to live a great life. Choosing to end that relationship that you know deep down needs to be ended. Leaving that safe and secure job that does not bring you satisfaction. Starting a new business only to have it fail. Posting that song to Youtube that nobody watches. Getting injured at the gym when lifting weights. Asking that girl out and getting rejected. Loving someone who doesn’t love you back. These are all examples of tough times that people go through and the list goes on and on. What they all have in common is that it is someone trying to do something to improve their life. We try. We fail. We learn. We try again. We fail. We learn. We build resilience and toughness through these experiences and adversities. Living a life where you never leave your comfort zone is easy. Sure, you never get hurt and never fail, but you also don’t achieve the things you want and you don’t get the life you deserve.
It is not only okay to go through these tough times but it is necessary to go through tough times. There will be horrible days. That is okay. It is okay to feel down sometimes. It is on these dark, dreadful, rainy days where you find out what you are truly made of. These are the days where you grow the most.
When you find yourself having a bad day, week or month, keep pressing on. Keeping doing the things you know you need to do. Stay the course. Keep working on yourself and never stop trying. Try, fail, learn, repeat. You are strong enough to get through anything. Never quit and never give up on yourself. I’ve been in that dark place where you feel like all hope is lost. Through perseverance, hard work and help from others, I was able to get through these tough times and I became stronger. You will get through these tough times and you will come out stronger on the other side. Even when it feels that all hope is lost. Never give up.
